Getting Here
Getting here is half the fun, as it requires an approximately 30-minute ride in a float plane, which is something that is quite an experience in itself.
Riding in our float plane will allow you the opportunity to view the unspoiled wilderness, along with thousands of sparkling lakes and rivers below you. It’s an exhilarating ride that will no doubt leave you anxious to see what else is in store for you.
Rather than landing on a runway, you’ll touch down directly on the water, giving you your first taste of the adventure that is to come.
Fishing Activities
The highlight of any visit is fishing, as we provide you with exclusive access to our own lake, which is filled with walleye, northern pike, muskie and smallmouth bass.
We are the only lodge on the lake and there is no road access to it.
Our section of the lake is also surrounded by waterfalls that prevent other boaters from entering it.
As such, you are guaranteed an excellent fishing opportunity, since you won’t have to compete with other anglers. To make the most of your adventure, experienced guides are also available.
Our Cozy Cottages
We take great pride in ensuring each guest cottage is spotless and immaculately maintained. Our cottages sleep between four and eight people, so there is bound to be one that is the perfect size for your group.
The maximum capacity of Oak Lake Lodge is only 32 guests, so you’ll also be able to enjoy a great deal of privacy during your stay here.
Each cottage is also comfortably furnished, and comes with plenty of clean towels and extra blankets to ensure you are as comfortable as possible.
At the end of a long day, sit back on your deck and watch the sunset over the lake, and then retreat to your bedroom for a comfortable night’s sleep so you can recharge for the next day’s activities.

All of our rugged activities are bound to leave you hungry, which is why you will appreciate the delicious meals that are carefully prepared for you by our staff.
Begin your day with a hearty breakfast served in our main dining room.
For lunch, you’ll enjoy a delicious fish fry performed by our guides and served lakeside, along with salads and sides prepared by our kitchen staff.
For dinner, you’ll once again enjoy delicious, home-cooked food served directly to your table, and can choose from a variety of entrees including lasagna, turkey, steak and chicken.
Other Activities
Oak Lake Lodge is an excellent place to test your archery skills by hunting black bear or moose.
One of our knowledgeable guides will help you with baiting, tracking, skinning and bagging bear, so even beginners can enjoy going hunting.

Float Planes and Fly-in Fishing.
Fly-in fishing is not "fly fishing", the method featured in the 1992 film with Brad Pitt, A River Runs Through It. Fly-in fishing just means you are flown to a lodge by a lake that offers quality fishing opportunities. This is extremely popular in Canada and especially in Northern Ontario, with countless lodges to choose from. Why choose us, Oak Lake Lodge? We believe we provide the most pristine, relaxing experience for you. We are able to guarantee this because we have accommodations for only 32 people. Lodgings are in separate cottages, so you don't have to worry about unwanted noise from thin hotel room walls. Yet, we provide all the comforts of home or better. This is not a camping trip fishing excursion. Comfortable beds, clean linens, hot and cold running water, flush toilets, dressers, a refrigerator, electricity from our generator, daily cleaning, and complimentary coffee left outside your door every morning are just some of the amenities. That’s just one of the reasons we’ve earned a five-star rating from Trip Advisor and the top ranking in Vermilion Bay. A separate living room provides couches, chairs, beverage refrigerator, a screened in front deck with lounge chairs, ceiling fans and lamps, and a wood stove provides a relaxing evening after a day of fishing. The lake features walleye, smallmouth bass and pike. The Northern Pike and Smallmouth Bass are catch and release fish. The last thing you need on a fishing trip is to have trouble starting the motor on the boat. We buy new motors every year. Guests use 16’ Lund Rebel boats, or they can take a guided trip on a 17.5’ Lund Outfitters. You’re ready to roll as soon as you get on the boat because we fill them up with gas, provide minnow buckets, life jackets, paddles, padded chairs, coolers and a live well to hold the fish. Catches have included a 56” Muskie, 31” walleye and 30+” Northern Pike. If fishing is not for you or you want to do something else one day, we offer black bear and moose archery hunting in September. Even if you already live near natural areas and love doing activities in the outdoors during the fall or winter, you probably have to experience an excessive amount of people in those places.
