Do You Like Fishing Fast or Slow?

Man boating back to Oak Lake Lodge.
In the world of fishing, it seems two types of personalities exist that psychologists would probably have a field day analyzing.

The first type is the one who prefers a faster experience where fish get caught every few minutes.

The second type is the one who prefers it old-school where patience is more rewarding. Most people probably prefer a little of both in one fishing trip for variety.

Here at Oak Lake Lodge, many visitors who expect to experience slower fishing here end up becoming believers in fast-paced fishing.

That's because Oak Lake has extremely healthy and hungry fish unharmed by the surrounding environment.

Thanks to our lodge being miles away from industries or anything potentially harmful, the fish here are as pure as any place on planet earth. With the proper bait, you'll end up catching fish every few minutes all season long. As a result, you'll end up having a fishing experience like no other where numerous fun things happen at once.

While we want you to absorb the pristine nature around you, take a look at the fun experiences you'll have with your fly-in fishing trip. We'll prove that fast fishing helps you appreciate nature more, particularly when you have a fishing guide with you.

Why Faster Fishing is More Exciting

Once you're out on Oak Lake in a private boat (which we provide for you), you'll realize the fish in the lake are quite sizable.

Using powerful bait we provide from our lodge store, you're guaranteed to have Walleye, Northern Pike, and Smallmouth Bass catches every few minutes.

Some of these fish are several feet long or more, which makes for an exhilarating experience when you can catch that many large fish in quick succession.

Even some of the best lakes and rivers throughout North America don't give you fishing at this kind of level.

Many of those bodies of water get tainted with pollution due to excessive tourism and far too many boats.

Because we only allow small groups in at a time to our lodge, boats get limited to just a few on Oak Lake.

This helps the fish populations immensely, even if we do employ a catch and release policy.

However, with a faster pace to your fishing, you have more benefits to this than you think.

Working with a Fishing Guide to Appreciate Your Catches

All our fish require release after you catch them, a fishing guide alongside you can help you appreciate the process.

They'll give you a new appreciation for the catch and release system, especially when you learn just how pristine the water in Oak Lake is.

You'll come away with a refreshing perspective on preserving something so rare. At the same time, you'll still have the thrill of landing heavy-duty fish throughout the day.

Our guides are there to help you through the landing process so the fish don't become injured.

Taking a Break for a Fish Fry (Shorelunch)

If you think you can't eat any of the fish, think again.

You can keep the walleye you catch in the morning in live wells, and your guides will fry them up during a fish fry lunch along the banks of the lake.

Walleye grow quite large themselves and are quite plentiful, which means you could have dozens of them to devour with your family at the shore lunch.

The fish fry equipment is already set up along the banks before you arrive thanks to our incredible staff.

Along with the fish, you'll have other traditional food for a fun-filled experience during a break in your fishing excursion.

Contact us here at Oak Lake Lodge to find out more about the unique fishing you'll have here and how you'll want to return again for the ultimate fishing fix.

Wilderness at Oak Lake Lodge

The idea of a fly-in fishing trip might sound similar to the vacations you've had lately: An overly crowded tourist spot that only leads to headaches rather than relaxation. Especially when finding a place giving you the peace of nature, it sometimes gets corrupted by too many people not respecting the surroundings. You've perhaps had one too many disconcerting moments seeing natural environments looking abused due to the excessive public exposure. Here at Oak Lake Lodge in Ontario, Canada, we shudder at this scenario ourselves. When we arrived here to run Oak Lake Lodge, we thought we entered heaven once we found out how isolated Oak Lake and the surroundings are. While the lodge has been here longer than we have, those before us, who ran the lodge, were always careful to preserve this rare pristine vacation spot. If some natural areas throughout Canada are still virtually untouched by the public, the wilderness around Oak Lake has had even less human contact. By tradition, we limit visitors to 32 people at a time so the area doesn't become a major tourist attraction. Also by tradition, we've avoided all temptation to sell any of the nearby land to industry or other resorts. When you fish on Oak Lake, you won't find other resorts, hotels, or any corporate industries for many miles. This leaves Oak Lake and the surroundings a private natural refuge for you and your family. What happens, though, if you don't really want to apply the fishing aspect to our fly-in fishing escape.

The idea of a fly in fishing trip might sound good to you after dealing with chaotic vacations your whole life. After experiencing one too many getaways where tourists were overly obtrusive, you're possibly ready for a change. Or, perhaps you're still skeptical that you can really find a place on earth not overrun with the hustle and bustle of tourists and industry. With that type of cynicism, you're probably still lured to the same old vacation spots you've been going to for years. Without proof, we know skepticism is inevitable. However, we want to prove to you that our vacation spot here at Oak Lake Lodge is one of the rare places left in the world where you'll find peace and real relaxation. We want to do this by comparing the places you ordinarily stay with the experiences you'll have at our lodge. This even includes comparing vacation locations you've been to that tout being in pristine nature. You're going to see an amazing contrast when we show you how different we are from the places you've already been to countless times.

The term fly-in fishing might sound mystifying to you if you've never experienced a similar getaway before. One reason is perhaps because any body of water you've fished on in the past most likely wasn't accessible by car or even foot. It seems most lakes, rivers, and streams throughout North America get advertised as being pristine when easy access to tourists make any pristine promise considerably degraded. It's certainly disconcerting when you're searching for a private lake somewhere to fish, only to find out it's already been noticeably tainted by tourists and industry. We feel your pain about this here at Oak Lake Lodge, and it's a vital reason why we're so proud to run a lodge surrounded by true, pristine nature. The reason we call our vacation package a fly-in fishing excursion is because it's the only way to access the area where we're located within Ontario, Canada. We fly you in personally in a private plane that lands directly on Oak Lake. Then, we give you the royal treatment at our beautiful lodge. While we've written considerably about the beauty of our cottages and the amenities, the real focus is on Oak Lake itself. What makes it stand apart from any other lake you've spent time on within North America? Most likely, you'll find the comparisons quite striking when you think about what you've experienced on other lakes. The privacy level on Oak Lake is unlike most other bodies of water you'll find in the world that allow human visitation.

Nature is the central focus for our fly in fishing trips here at Oak Lake Lodge, and we continually try to make it clear that our nature hasn't been tainted. There aren't many natural places left on earth you could call pristine, especially if they're open year-round to the public. While many people do their best to preserve nature, excess tourism simply doesn't help in preservation. Since you can't always assume everyone respects nature either, some tourists may dump garbage within the surroundings without anyone noticing. You won't experience any natural harm here at Oak Lake Lodge, because we only let 32 people in at any given time. Those lucky few people get a chance to experience unprecedented nature and on a level they never forget. It's an experience we want you to experience yourself if you think there isn't a place left on earth where you can assimilate such things. We understand your pain if you live in a place where city lights obscure the ability to see the sky, or you're too far away to enjoy the sounds of undisturbed nature. The same goes if you live in a large city and can't experience other natural phenomena you'll enjoy here. Just take a look at some of the natural events our visitors experience regularly with photo proof. When you see the photo sections on our website, you'll see why we're the prime spot in Ontario, Canada to see the best of nature from the ground, water, and sky.

Appreciating and preserving nature is the central focus of our fly-in fishing vacations here at Oak Lake Lodge . You could probably surmise this from our website where we try to pictorially show you the type of environment you'll experience. But you have to visit in person to really understand the purity and majesty of the unspoiled nature around you. Because we only let 32 people in at a time and are miles away from any other resorts or industries, it's a true paradise that's hard to find anywhere on the planet. While you'll have a fishing trip like no other and have chances to trek through pristine wilderness, we want you to appreciate this area like nobody else. It's easy to take it for granted and focus strictly on catching fish or meditating on the scenery. However, we want you to realize new perspectives on the nature here before you head home. You'll experience this partly through our guides who you can hire separately. They'll tell you entertaining stories and show you hidden aspects to the surrounding nature as a way to help you appreciate the surroundings even more than when you first arrived. Take a look at some things you'll learn that will likely inspire you to never take untainted nature for granted again.

When you vacation, finding access to food is always an issue, especially when you're traveling with a big family. Having many people along on your trip also means dealing with some picky eaters. This is all the more reason why you should try our fly-in fishing vacation package here at Oak Lake Lodge. Meals are never a problem at our lodge because we prepare in advance to make your experience the best it can possibly be. You'll also appreciate our attention to something other vacation spots don't always do: Making sure you never go hungry while still making the food healthy. When you hear the term "fly-in fishing", no doubt you immediately picture thoughts of a hideaway vacation. While accurate, you've perhaps created a new definition of what a hideaway vacation is. You've possibly become overly cynical about the term because so many hideaway vacations your family visited in the past didn't live up to expectations. This was even more disappointing considering you paid a significant amount to commune with pristine nature and a promise of few tourists. In reality, there aren't any truly pristine tourist areas left in the world other than deserted islands and uninhabited jungles. Only a few places still exist on earth where you'll get some exceptions. We're fortunate to tell you that we provide exceptions here at Oak Lake Lodge thanks to long-standing stringent plans on limiting tourists. Here in Ontario, Canada, we still have some pristine natural environments left not invaded by excess tourism or industry. The land around our lodge received government approval to stay as pristine as you can get while still allowing limited visitors at a time. We only allow 32 people in every few weeks, so you're never experiencing excess tourists. You'll also find many other differences compared to other so-called hideaway vacations. Maybe you know about other secret locations where you can essentially get lost, at least in the off-season. Even if you can sometimes successfully escape crowds in those places, they don't offer the amenities we do. Let's take a look at some of those differences and why we frequently get singled out as one of the best vacation spots within Canada and the United States. We'll help you redefine what a hideaway vacation really is.

There isn't any question that food is a top concern when traveling on vacation. You've probably had more headaches over what to eat than anything else when visiting hideaway resorts, hotels, or even bed & breakfasts. What makes this all the more problematic is the kind of food you'll find in the places where you stay. If you're staying overseas, it sometimes means consuming exotic items you've never had before, which only brings elements of risk. While the above is exciting for some people, it can bring some dangers to your health. The last thing you want is food that could potentially make you sick in a foreign location where medical facilities aren't the greatest. Here at Oak Lake Lodge, we decided that food needed a strong focus on our vacation packages. We knew that when people travel to a vacation destination, they wanted food that's substantive, yet also not overly offbeat to a point where it could cause illness. Also, based on the response of our customers, we understood that most people enjoy having traditional food. Yes, traditional food gives you a sense of home, despite being served here in a remote location where pristine nature surrounds you. Let us show you the kind of traditional food you'll find for your fly-in fishing vacation. We'll show you why it's safer and even healthier than many other foods found in other tourist destinations.

When you decide to experience our fly-in fishing vacation package here at Oak Lake Lodge, you'll immediately notice the sense of peace and quiet you'll have in comparison to other vacations. We'll remind you that when you arrive here, you're a long way from any industry. This means miles and miles of natural surroundings and not the loud bustle of traffic. With our limitations of 32 people per visit, you also eliminate concern about excessive tourists. You won't find many vacation spots on earth that don't have an excess of tourists clogging streets, or even on lakes. This sense of peace might sound like we're too far away from providing outstanding amenities. Keep in mind we fly in and provide more amenities and supplies than most lodges do that exist away from civilization.

Experiencing autumn during your fly in fishing vacation here at Oak Lake Lodge is like no other nature experience available in the civilized world. Even if you already live near natural areas and love doing activities in the outdoors during the fall or winter, you probably have to experience an excessive amount of people in those places. Plus if it's a vacation spot, you probably work up a considerable appetite after excessive physical exercise. The problem with the two situations above is that being in nature with too many people already ruins any claims of the surroundings being unspoiled. At a vacation resort, it also means crowded restaurants, leaving you having to wait for food when you want food immediately. You won't find either of the above unfortunate scenarios here at Oak Lake Lodge. The nature here is truly pristine because there isn't any industry around for miles. We also have limitations on how many people we let in at a time, so getting food when you want it isn't a problem. Moreover, you'll have more food here than you can probably digest. Our meals are extremely hearty and generous in their servings. The question is how much of an appetite can you generate while visiting us? When you have cooler weather, invigorating fishing, and hunting all together, you can probably get as hungry as the black bears and moose are when they forage for food this fall.
